Mmmmmmm. Did you know that jam can require four cups of sugar for every two cups of mashed strawberries? I was a little shocked. But the results… Mmmmm the results. Excuse me, I think some spilled on the kitchen counter and needs to be cleaned, er, licked up.

Save a teaspoon for me! 😉 You can use honey, too!

It seems an odd request to ask to lick someone else's kitchen counter. Nonetheless …

Remember how you snuck into our kitchen just to eat homemade jam? Best on Breyers vanilla.

I do remember, Sarah. It was sooo good. I've got a jar here for you (along with containers of 18 and 24 month baby clothes). I think I might make some bread to go with the jam today!

Its late when you can't figure out why your friend put baby clothes in jars. Dropped off opener with babysitter tonight and thought she was mocking me when I said "Hi my name is Sarah" and she replied, "Hi, my name is Shara." Um, I accept donations of bread and jam. YES!

Andrew made his own first batch of jam this afternoon. He took the tops off the berries, mashed them up, added sugar, stirred, added pectin, and licked the counter clean when we were done.

I can’t wait to get a fresh loaf of bread and spread it with the generosity of my favorite little Andrew in the whole wide world!!! Yummy. Thank you Soooooo Much.
Yes, it always is a shocker the first time you make jam to see the amount of
sugar that goes in, but then the harkening of a fresh loaf of hot bread and
butter with jam and you forget the perils of all that sugar. The end result is
out of this world.
Enjoy each and every morsel.

Our dear little Andrew did that all by himself? Oh my goodness — those peanut butter and jam sandwiches are going to taste even sweeter now knowing that sweet little boy made the jam. Thank you SO much for the gift Andrew!
Fresh bread…good idea! I think I should get some dough rising today so we can have homemade bread and homemade jam for breakfast tomorrow morning!
Althea, I am seriously considering starting to call you “Martha.”
I just talked with my mom who was busy freezing quarts and quarts of berries. She tried jam last year but was underimpressed with the time:output ratio.
