To all those with whom I communicate via email:
I apologize for my regular lack of response to your kind notes.
I’ve just spent the last two hours going through hundreds of old emails (I’m actually writing this post at 12:30am), and it’s embarrassing…simply embarrassing…how many informative, questioning, consoling, interesting emails have gone unanswered.
My only consolation for you is that you’re in good company.
Yikes.

I wish I could send a similar note to all my professional colleagues. However, I'm afraid it would seem grossly unprofessional…

I've sometimes sort of wished that an email server would explode so I'd have an excuse for note replying. Except for some of my emails, I'd have to say, "I didn't reply to you for nine months, and then, to my horror, my email server exploded. So I guess it was the server's fault that I didn't reply."

althea, i feel like these website updates are just as good as emails if not better, because 1) they often answer my questions of how are you/bryan/the kids, and 2) i don’t have to feel guilty about responding myself. 🙂
